Organized by the Institute for Vegetable Crops, on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, the conference with international participation "Biotechnology and modern approach in plant cultivation and breeding" was held. After the opening of the meeting by the Acting Director of the Institute, doc. Dr. Almir Muhović, the participants were addressed by Jelena Blagojević, State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia and Nikola Vučen, President of the Municipality of Smederevska Palanka.
In Introductory lectures, two review papers were presented by eminent professors, prof. Dr. Desimir Knezevic, "Plant Breeding and Adaptation to Climate Change", and prof. Dr. Djordje Moravcevic "Vegetables of Serbia-challenges and opportunities". Katarina Zarubica, as a representative of the Department for Recognition of Agricultural Plant Varieties, gave an introductory lecture on "Directions for the development of recognition of vegetable and other agricultural plant varieties in the Republic of Serbia. In addition to introductory lectures, In the Poster section, 23 scientific papers were presented in the field of genetics, breeding, physiology, protection and cultivation of vegetable, field, medicinal and meadow plant species, as well as the application of new analytical methods in food safety testing.
The conference was attended by researchers and professors of institutes and faculties engaged in scientific research in the field of biotechnology and agriculture. In co-authorship with Serbian authors, authors from Belarus, Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska were represented in the works.
