A presentation of the economic and scientific potential of the Chinese city of Weifang was held today in the Chinese Cultural Center in Belgrade. Weifang is a city in the north-east of China that has over 9 million inhabitants, covers more than 16,000 square kilometers, faces the Yellow Sea. It is home to the Weifang Campus of Shandong Province University of Science and Technology. Information technologies and the food industry are the two backbones of economic development. Weifang produces 14 million tons of vegetables annually and is the city with the largest production and distribution of vegetables in northern China. Vegetables are produced on 202,000 hectares, 155,300 hectares are under greenhouses.
Director of the Institute for Vegetable crops, PhD Nenad Đurić attended the presentation, also presented the potential of our Institute and in direct conversations with the Deputy Mayor of Weifang, M.Sc. Di Bo and other members of the delegation, reached agreements on the establishment of cooperation.
