Head of the Laboratory Seed Quality Control

Jelena Damnjanovic, PhD was born in Belgrade in 1967.

She graduated at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade in 1991. She gained Master Degree in 1999 with thesis “Inheritance of quantitative traits in F1 generation of diallel hybrid of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.)”. She defended doctoral thesis “Genetic variability and stability of traits of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.)” in 2016.

She has been working at the Institute for Vegetable Crops since 2004, first at the Department of Genetic and Vegetable Breeding and then, since 2013 she is a Head of the Laboratory for Seed Quality Control.

She published 30 scientific papers in national and international journals or presented them on meetings. She is the co-author of 3 varieties (one variety of kale, one variety of white radish and one variety of black radish). She is the member of “Serbian Association of Plant Breeders and Seed producers”.

Scientific field: Eggplant breeding, stability of the most important quantitative traits of eggplant at different localities, characterisation of gene fond of eggplant and determination of genetic diversity by applying molecular markers, seed production.
